Sat 19 May - 1st XI v Kilndown & Lamberhurst

Posted on 20th May in 1sts Match Reports, 2007

KILDOWN & LAMBERHURST 157 FOR 9
SHOREHAM 1st 159 FOR 6

An opening partnership of 84 between Skinner (25) and Martin (54) they looked set for a large total for K & L, the introduction of the veteran Ray Trick 3 for 24 and the miserley economy rate of Bob Stacey conceding only 25 runs from his 9 overs slowed the run rate with both getting movement off the track. With James Trick coming back for a second spell picked up 3 wickets, restricting the remainder of the batsmen to single figures and ending with figures of 3 for 29. The home side ended on 157 for 9. An opening partnership of 53 between Ray Trick (33) and Nick Walker (18) got Shoreham off to a good start. Skinner 3 for 32 and Clarke 2 for 25 toiled in vane to keep a tight reign on the visitors momentom. Phil Edge batted well for his 45 and kept the innings ticking along. A quickfire 15 from James Trick put Shoreham ahead of the rate. It was left to Martin Wells 11no and Clive Thompson 11no to steer shoreham to a 4 wicket victory.

The poise of a Thai lady boy allied with the power of a village blacksmith - that would be ideal. Sadly Phil has these in reverse.
