Sat 9 June - 1st XI v Halstead I
Posted on 10th June in 1sts Match Reports, 2007
Shoreham inserted the visitors on what appeared to be a good batting track, the openers J. Rideout (33) and T Booker (11) found it difficult to get the ball away and only accumulating 25 runs after 12 overs with J. Trick bowling his 9 overs for 14 runs and E Walker 20 from 6 overs bowling a good line. Lotz (46) came to the wicket and added impetus to the innings and Vivien (21) pushed the score to enable Halstead to close on 175 for 9. The Shoreham wicket takers were R Trick 3 for 57, P Wright 2 for 31, B Stacey 2 for 44 and J Trick 2 for 14. Shoreham were always ahead of the run rate but with wickets falling regularly. Wright (37) stayed at one end despite the efforts of P Dent 4 for 49 and with 6 wickets falling for 50 runs the match was difficultly poised for either side, but a maiden 50 of the season for E Walker 56no and a calculated 17no by keeper M Wells saw Shoreham to victory by 3 wickets.

No (dammit)…
I’m still sticking with the dodgy wicket & lucky delivery combo excuse this week

Copies of my book ‘How to Score a Fifty with Only One Shot’ will be available from the boot of my car at our next game, if anyone’s interested?

After all the great strokes that Ed played on Saturday we somehow managed only to get a picture of what looks to be leave!

That would be the “lucky” straight ball on the stumps that came off the pitch at a medium slow pace (from a medium slow bowler) and missed your large piece of timber to rattle into the smaller bits of timber?

The book will no doubt be dedicated to your father without whose contribution on Saturday no celebratory jug would have been funded.
