A depleted Shoreham side found it hard to compete against a strong Flimwell team who elected to bat first on a good track. Reeves (41) and fellow opener k. Noon (31) had an opening partnership of 82. The introduction of the wily Ray Trick 2 for 39 slowed the run rate for a wile ,The middle order of M.Noon (33),Atkins (35) and Downs (26) added impetus to the innings despite the efforts of Bob Stacey 1 for 39 and 16 year old Tom Palmer 3 for 59. A late flurry by Will Farnfield 20 n.o. helped to push the visitors score to 229 for 7. In reply Shoreham after loosing an early wicket saw a second wicket partnership of 81 between Montieth (39) and Wright (46) helped the home side keep up with the run rate. The introduction of Pickles 3 for 33 and Farnfield 3 for 26 saw wickets fall steadily Styles with (32) and Palmer with (20no) pushed Shoreham to an extra batting point by reaching 164 for 9,with Flimwell deserved winners by 65 runs.

    Please read 2nd team report to see how this should be done. More flowery language, descriptive prose, subtle humour and the use of very big words can help alleviate the pain of a good thrashing.
