Sat 17 May - 1st XI v Sissinghurst II

Posted on 20th May in 1sts Match Reports, 2008

Shoreham won the toss and inserted Sissinghurst II on a rainy day. Sissinghurst found runs hard to come by early on with J Trick (36-2) and J Dinnis (31-3) bowling a tight line. It wasn’t until C. Jenkins (48) joined S. Kelly (61) that the Sissinghurst innings started to gain momentum, S. Brown chipped in with 33 to enable the innings to close on 223 for 8. The other wicket taker for Shoreham was S. Kokkiligadda (51-2). An opening partnership of 44 between S. Kokkiligadda (23) and Nick Walker (27) got Shoreham of to a solid start. P. Wright (39) moved the score along before being run out, this brought J. Trick (35n.o.) to the wicket to join A. Monteith (76n.o.) to achieve victory with 3.2 overs to spare. Pick of the bowlers for Sissinghurst was M. Winner (23-2).

Can we please have the flowing prose return for the match reports, as I feel the term “rainy day” does not quite do justice the conditions.

You blaming the conditions for your run-out mate?

Given that I almost landed on my face whilst taking off for the single a case could be made for weather conditions playing a part. Age and a lack of speed had nothing to do with it……

    hello everyone
nice to be part of a great win yesturday. well done all of you. yes -we could have done bit better in the field but our opponents with younger average age couldn’t stop us winning the match. we will keep on winning every week untill we win the league.
